Project Pomegranate provides non-directive, spiritual resources to support those who have experienced infertility, pregnancy loss, or infant death, and to engender this support in their faith communities.
Why the name? Project Pomegranate?
The pomegranate is an ancient symbol of fertility across several cultures. Looking at its insides, bursting with seeds, it’s easy to understand why. It is a fruit that holds the promise of life. This hope is central to our work providing spiritual resources for infertility, miscarriage, and infant loss.
Just as important, though, is the pomegranate’s tough outer skin. For those who have endured pregnancy loss, buried a child, or been unable to conceive, the strong exterior is an apt symbol and a reminder of the spirit’s resiliency through grief and longing.
The pomegranate also symbolizes abundance and generosity, reminding us to look to God as the source of all life. It is in God that we seek solace and strength throughout this journey.
